Empowering Communities Through Education, Awareness, and Advocacy
Driven by a desire to support communities across Alaska, a group of volunteers founded Advancing Alaska. Collaborating with elected officials, community advocates, and everyday Alaskans, we are committed to creating a better future for all.

Awareness
Public Awareness Campaigns: Launching campaigns across various media platforms to challenge myths and misconceptions about sexual assault, and to promote survivor stories and voices.
Collaborative Community Events: Organizing events such as fundraisers for sexual assault survivors, and hosting panel discussions in collaboration with local organizations and leaders to foster community engagement and dialogue.
Resource Distribution: Developing and distributing informational materials, including brochures, posters, and online resources, to ensure that accurate information and support options are widely accessible.
Education
Informational Campaigns: Creating and distributing educational materials like brochures, flyers, and social media content to raise awareness and inform the community about sexual assault and available resources.
Resource Distribution: Creating and distributing toolkits, guides, and other resources that empower individuals and organizations to advocate for survivors and influence policy at the local and state levels.
Annual Conferences: Hosting annual conferences that bring together experts, survivors, and community members to share knowledge, strategies, and resources for combating sexual assault and supporting survivors. Through these comprehensive efforts, Advancing Alaska aims to create a well-informed and proactive community that stands united against sexual assault and advocates for the well-being of all Alaskans.

Advocacy
Coalition Building: Forming alliances with other organizations, advocacy groups, and coalitions to strengthen the collective voice and impact on policy and social change efforts.
Media Engagement: Utilizing media platforms to highlight issues related to sexual assault, share survivor stories, and advocate for changes in public perception and policy. This includes writing opinion pieces, participating in interviews, and holding press conferences.
Educational Outreach to Policymakers: Conducting briefings and informational sessions for elected officials and government agencies to educate them on the needs and rights of survivors and the importance of preventive measures.
Social Media Campaigns: Leveraging social media to mobilize supporters, spread awareness, and advocate for policy changes. This includes creating shareable content, organizing online petitions, and using social media to amplify the message.
Our Mission
